Councillor Gabe Cronnelly Came to Visit 5th and 6th Class.

                                                            A huge thank you to Councillor Gabe Cronnelly who came to visit us today. We wrote him letters in our English class. We typed up the letters in our I.T class .

                                                            We have been learning all about Global Citizenship and energy this year as part of our efforts to get our next green flag. We raised some issues which are of concern to us in our letters to Councillor Cronnelly . We asked him to raise the issues at his next council meeting. We raised the issues of homelessness in the Galway area, poverty, global warming and its effect on the people of Galway. 

                                                              We also highlighted the importance of the local shops stocking goods with the Fair Trade label on them. This small act will enable the people who work so hard to produce the goods we use here in the west to be paid a fair wage.

                                                               He promised to raise the issues at the next council meeting and he is going to write back to us.

                                                              Thank you again for giving up your time Councillor Cronnelly. He told us about his work with the council and we asked him questions and he asked us questions too. He listened to every child reading the letters and he took a copy of each letter with him.
